America is baseball, apple pie, and … Russian spies?
At the height of the Cold War, America needed a distraction. And it came in the form of Jack Myles, who burst on the scene hitting home runs with such repetitive force that he became known as the Jack Hammer.
Three decades after Myles' tragic death, Anna Stepania walks into the office of private investigator Tim O'Connell and makes the crazy claim that Jack Myles is her father … and that he's still alive.
Tim is skeptical, to say the least, but a search reveals that not only is Myles alive, he plays for a different team than everyone thought. The man widely considered to be an American hero was actually a Russian spy.
He also left his mark around the world with the children he'd fathered. All possessing his signature athletic ability. A Cuban pitcher. A Russian tennis star. And Cam Myles, the son whose own accomplishments could never compete with the ghost of his father.
And now that ghost is trying to kill him.
The Jack Hammer is forced to come out of retirement to teach his children a lesson, leading to a deadly showdown with the family he'd left behind. A reunion that has more fireworks than the Fourth of July.
Come for the memorable characters and fast-paced action of this modern day spy thriller. But stay for the mind-blowing ending you never saw coming.
Will the mighty Jack Hammer crush another opponent, or will he strike out?
The Jack Hammer eBook Derek Ciccone
Derek skillfully weaves a complex cast of players into a compelling story. The assortment of offspring fathered by “the Hammer” makes for a variety of entertaining twists while readers try to connect the dots between the springs. Indeed ‘tis a challenge to figure out who is jacking whom and who “the Hammer” will off next. Just when you conclude Jack is a really bad ass dude—he goes and becomes worst… ah, worser… ah, more horrific. That’s how it is with a leftover cold war spy when his past zaps into the future with deadly results.Derek pitches a marvelous “who done what” mystery with natural curve and positions the offspring to swing with their perspective of the puzzling plot. Bravo for the author’s storytelling ability to put all the pieces together presenting a perfectly perverted picture of decades of deception by Jack the commie spy driving a tow-truck. Derek did a great job of creating an all-time American hero with a very dark, bloody past—the super hero flips with ease into the murder most foul persona.
When I finished reading “The Jack Hammer,” my reaction was, “Hot damn, that was a damn good read!!!” This begets my recommendation as a unique mystery thriller with 5-stars.
Enjoy often... John

The Jack Hammer eBook Derek Ciccone Reviews
Ever since reading Painless, I've enjoyed Derek Ciccone's books. This is a tight and exciting thriller, with believable and like able characters, except for the bad guy. Highly recommend.
I didn't want to put this one down. This book is very well written with extremely well defined plots and sub plots that still left me wanting to learn more. After I was sure that I knew exactly what was happening - a new development would send me and the story off in a different direction. I was captivated clear up to the last page. Kudos to Derek Ciccone for this one.
A pleasant surprise! I wasn't expecting much because I figured baseball would factor heavily into the story and really weigh it down for me. However, it was only used as a plot driver and not at all boring! You don't need to have an interest in or knowledge of baseball to enjoy this! It's a very fast-paced, well written read that kept me turning pages at a fast clip!
I found this story to be great. It had more twists and turns than you could imagine. The author has a way of intermingling the characters to make the story fantastic. It was fast moving and was not, to me anyway, easy to figure out. I did not expect the ending. It appeared earlier in the story that the characters would end up differently. Actual end blew me away. I am looking for more stories by this author. I recommend this book to any one who enjoys suspense.
Galore! Who is/was the Jack Hammer? It seems everyone had their own ideas - including the man with the title. The children all knew him in different ways, only to find perhaps not. The ending, while I personally didn't see it coming quite that way, was supremely satisfying. A jaw dropper for sure. Even if you don't like baseball (I don't) this is one of the best books I've read this summer.
I have read several books by Derek Ciccone and have enjoyed each one of them. At the time of this review there were ten 5 star, two 4 star, and only one 1 star reviews. So don't let that one bad review discourage you from getting this book. Derek did a marvelous job of bringing characters from various locations and backgrounds (who had no idea of their common connection) together in a masterful thriller. There is evil in the story and there is good so your emotions will swing from anger to relief and perhaps an enthusiastic "Yes!" . All in all a well done story by a masterful story teller.
I really enjoyed The Jack Hammer, with the different cast of people, all connected to a man they believe is their father. Each has their own story line, with different experiences, relationships and dreams about the man who turns out to have children from different countries. What brings them together makes the Jack Hammer a spell binding read!
